Healthcareful®
Manual healthcare tasks for a typical acute consultant clinician in an NHS Foundation Trust take up one hour of their day. That’s five hours a week, twenty hours a month, or two hundred and forty hours a year. Gaining back that yearly lost time could result in care for an extra 720 patients per year. This calculation, coupled with the alarming claim that if we classed medical error as a disease, it would be the third-largest killer in the UK (BMJ Analysis, 2016), persuaded us to give our all to helping Salutare get its software working in the healthcare sector.
While most healthcare start-ups focus on diagnostics and treatment, Salutare has a different approach. They want to revolutionise what most companies avoid because it’s dull, manual healthcare tasks. They want to nail administration. And boy, does it need revolutionising.
With Chris’ background as a Microsoft senior exec leading software company development across the EU and US and Kevin’s as a Professor of Medicine, experienced clinician working in the NHS, hepatologist and clinical pharmacologist, they arguably have an excess of expertise.
Our task was to consider how to position the Salutare brand and present its products to the varied audience of investors, healthcare executives and senior management, procurement departments, practitioners, clinicians and patients for maximum impact. What would be the overarching benefit to all those audiences of deploying Salutare’s software in their hospitals? What would make it clear that Salutare could make a demonstrable difference? And how would the identity translate across all brand touch-points, including the various software products?
We started with the question. Why Salutare?
After some research and further conversations, internally and with Chris, Kevin and their advisors, we arrived at a simple central thought that answered this question and a unique way of articulating it - Healthcareful™.
Salutare’s reason for being is to make healthcare more Healthcareful™.
By being Healthcareful™, Salutare’s products will contribute to ending lost patients in the healthcare system. They will free up clinician time by converting ‘wasted’ admin time into face-to-face time with patients and colleagues. They will make blood testing more efficient for patients and clinicians and more cost-effective for healthcare providers with less waste in the system. They will provide MDT Teams with a simple-to-use platform that integrates with existing software to speed up diagnosis and flag issues (or give the all-clear) at the right time in the patient’s treatment journey.
While Healthcareful™ was being registered, as a trademark. We designed the verbal and visual identity used across the pitch deck, website, social channels and other marketing materials.
